Technical Support Specialist – Laboratory Instruments

Our client: A Swiss-owned manufacturer of high-precision laboratory instruments (microliter syringes, pumps, valves, needles, pipetting modules), producing near Timișoara since 2013. Their products end up in scientific research labs, analytical applications labs and intensive care units across Europe, Asia and South Africa.

We are partnering with them to recruit a Technical Support Specialist for their laboratory product range.

About the Role

You are the first person a customer reaches when an instrument doesn’t behave as expected. That means understanding the product properly — operating data, measurement specifics, communication protocols, applications and methods — enough to reproduce a problem rather than just log it.

It’s a hybrid of engineering and customer contact. Half the job is technical investigation; the other half is explaining what you found, clearly, to a lab scientist under time pressure. If you want a pure lab role with no customer contact, this isn’t it.

What You’ll Do

  • Be the first technical contact for customer support enquiries on the laboratory product range
  • Reproduce and investigate customer issues — by email, by phone, and on customer visits where the problem needs to be seen
  • Advise on product performance and specifications: operating data, measurements, communication protocols, applications and methods
  • Triage and prioritise incoming support enquiries so the urgent ones move first
  • Work across departments — Sales, Order Processing, Product Management, R&D and Production — to close cases that can’t be solved alone

Requirements

  • Technical background in engineering, biomedical engineering, biotechnology or chemistry — through a degree or equivalent hands-on experience with technical instrumentation
  • Fluent English, written and spoken — you’ll handle international customer communication daily
  • Genuine customer-facing ability: you can give technical advice to someone who isn’t an engineer and be understood
  • Structured time management — several open cases with different priorities at once
  • Solid computer skills (Windows, Office)
  • Ability to work independently toward a target, and to pull in other departments when a case needs them

Nice to Have

  • German, or another additional language
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems
  • Prior experience with laboratory instruments, medical devices or analytical equipment
  • Experience in a support or applications role in a manufacturing environment

What’s On Offer

  • Competitive salary — plus the 13th salary and an annual bonus tied to company performance
  • Meal tickets — 30 lei per day
  • Gift tickets at Christmas and Easter
  • Referral bonus of 2,500–3,500 lei
  • Overtime paid at double rate
  • Private medical services for you and your family
  • Glasses purchase bonus, plus a gym and wellness discount package
  • Company transport from Timișoara, Dumbrăvița, Ghiroda, Giarmata, Giroc, Chișoda, Moșnița, Bucovăț, Șag, Săcălaz and Arad
  • Flexible working hours
  • On-site cafeteria with catering, relaxation area, free coffee and daily fruit
  • Bookster access, professional development and training, company events

Exact salary is set per profile. Tell us your expectation on the first call and we’ll tell you straight away whether it’s in range — no wasted rounds.

Hiring Process

  1. Technical screening call with Wise Step — a technical conversation, not a keyword check. We tell you what the role actually looks like, including the hard parts.
  2. Interview with the client — technical discussion on instrumentation, support scenarios and customer communication.
  3. On-site meeting in Giarmata with the team you’d work with.
  4. Decision and offer — you hear back either way. No radio silence.
