Head of Production Mechanics – Timișoara
Our client: A global manufacturer of high-precision laboratory instruments (microliter syringes, pumps, valves, needles, pipetting modules) and medical device accessories. With Swiss roots and a production facility in the Giarmata (Timiș) area, they supply scientific research labs, analytical applications labs, and intensive care units across Europe, Asia, and Africa.
We are partnering with them to recruit an experienced Head of Production Mechanics to lead their machining operations.
About the role
You will own the full Production and Engineering function for the machining area — from day-to-day resource management to mid-term process improvement and team development. The role suits a hands-on leader with a strong technical background in machining who can balance operational execution with strategic thinking. small change
Key responsibilities
- Lead Production and Engineering operations for the machining area end-to-end
- Drive continuous process improvements and monitor team performance against KPIs
- Recruit, evaluate, and develop direct reports; build a high-performing team culture
- Manage daily resources — people, materials, and equipment — to meet production targets
- Execute company strategy and embed best practices across the area
- Propose, own, and control the area budget
What we are looking for
- 3+ years of management or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong technical background with hands-on machining process expertise (milling and/or turning preferred)
- Technical university degree (Mechanical Engineering or related field)
- Excellent English; German is a significant plus
- Organized, proactive, and solution-oriented — comfortable working across teams and levels
