General Ledger Accountant – Timișoara

Our client: A global manufacturer of high-precision laboratory instruments (microliter syringes, pumps, valves, needles, pipetting modules) and medical device accessories. With Swiss roots and a production facility in the Giarmata (Timiș) area, they supply scientific research labs, analytical applications labs and intensive care units across Europe, Asia and Africa.

We are partnering with them to recruit an experienced General Ledger Accountant to strengthen their finance team.

About the role

You will own GL accounting and reporting activities for assigned entities, supporting both local statutory compliance and group-level consolidation. The role suits a senior accountant who is comfortable working with international teams and has exposure to multi-entity reporting environments.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general ledger accounting: journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, intercompany transactions
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in line with local GAAP and company policies
• Manage timely and accurate monthly and annual financial closings for assigned entities
• Run group consolidation processes — preparation and submission of consolidation packages
• Perform intercompany eliminations and reconcile group balances
• Ensure data quality and consistency across consolidation inputs
• Prepare and review reconciliations for accuracy and completeness
• Coordinate with local teams and external service providers on statutory, tax and audit requirements
• Analyze financial data, flag discrepancies and identify improvement opportunities
• Support internal and external audit processes with timely documentation
• Support local statutory reporting and compliance with local accounting, tax and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with finance and operational teams to resolve accounting queries
• Contribute to process improvement, automation and accounting system enhancement projects

What we are looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• 5+ years of relevant GL accounting experience, ideally with international exposure
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems (Microsoft D365, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite or similar)
• Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities
• Effective communication and collaboration skills
• Excellent English (written and spoken) — German is a significant plus
